Riddle for Kids

What is red and blue, and purple and green?
No one can reach it, not even the queen?

BTW, in case you're wondering, I heard this riddle as a kid, thus the title.

I'm coming up on 1,000 questions asked.  Any requests for the type of question for number 1,000?

  1. a rainbow! Unless the queen is short, then it could be almost anything!!! I suggest that number one thousand could be a riddle, like the stuck in the room one, so that any one is able to make up their own sort of answer and there isn't one "right" answer, that is always fun.

  2. Oh, a rainbow makes sense. I was thinking the sky, because I've seen it in varying shades of red, blue, and purple, plus I've heard it can look greenish before a tornado. And I agree with Sarah about riddle 1000.

  3. Yes, Mike, I agree with Sarah. Make it a long one, like Mr. Fiend killing that old guy, or the one with the three doors to escape... those are always fun!

  4. My favorites are logic puzzles, where you have four or five characters who each brought one fruit and one vegetable to the potluck -- that sorta thing. Or a bunch of rebus! I love those. (What's the plural of rebus? Rebi? Rebuses?)

  5. I think "sky" is a better answer than "rainbow." You may not be able to take hold of a rainbow, but it's not always so distant that I'd say no one can reach it. I've stood on a rainbow at the base of a waterfall.

  6. I agree with Sarah about the 1000 problem... like a story or something that takes time to figure out, and has clues in the problem

  7. My first thought was the sky, because depending on the time of day and the weather it can be very different colors.

I love the logic puzzles like tabithablog mentioned....

  10. @tabithablogs

"Rebus" is a plural already. Res, rei (Fifth declension) means "Thing". Rebus s the plural ablative and means "By the things"

  11. Rainbow is the accepted answer (this is an old riddle). But sky certainly works.

I'd love to stand on a rainbow someday. Sounds like fun!

  12. How do you stand on a rainbow? Any time I've come close to one it disappears, only to reappear behind me.
