Nail in the tree

When Sandy was six years old she hammered a nail into her favorite
tree to mark her height. Ten years later she returned to see how
much higher the nail was. If the tree grew by 5 centimeters each
year, how much higher would the nail be?

  1. Trees normally only widen at the base while the ends of the tree grow.

  2. That's right, the nail would be at the same height since trees grow at their tops.

New math? Although 42 is the answer. What's the question?
