In each of the following three, move a single match to form valid equations. The = and + are composed of two matches each.
I'm posting one puzzle, riddle, math, or statistical problem a day. Try to answer each one and post your answers in the comments section. I'll post the answer the next day. Even if you have the same answer as someone else, feel free to put up your answer, too!

Move the Match

1) IV + I = VReplyDelete
2) VI +/- I = V (made the + symbol into a + above the - symbol)
3) V - II = III
Or make a != symbol out of the equal symbol.ReplyDelete
3. \/| / || = |||
which comes about by taking the horizontal match of the "+" and using it as a slash and the remaining vertical match forming a 2 with the match to its right.
Making a not equal sign works, too.
I'm not sure about the V-|| = ||| I'm just not seeing the one match move?
I know... I tried doing these in my head because i didn't have matches around. So some looked right to me.ReplyDelete
Oh good... I thought I was missing something obvious.ReplyDelete
