### Fill in the Blank

What number should replace the question mark?
7 9 4 5 43
8 7 3 3 47
10 4 4 7 12
12 5 4 2 ?

1. 52,
because:
7 x 9 = 63 - (4 x 5) = 43
8 x 7 = 56 - (3 x 3) = 47
10 x 4 = 40 - (4 x 7) = 12
12 x 5 = 60 - (4 x 2) = 52

2. (12.5)-(4.2)=52

3. GandalfGecko, you are awesome. how did you manage to find out the ans soo soon? good job...

i must be real bad in math to.

A large truck is crossing a bridge 1 mile long. The bridge can only hold 14000 lbs, which is the exact weight of the truck. The truck makes it half way across the bridge and stops. A bird lands on the truck. Does the bridge collapse? Give a reason.

6. Answer to Alexis

Nope. Becoz the truck would have burned fuel along the way. :)
(Ofcoz this is subject to the weight of the bird being = or < the weight of the amount of fuel that has been burned... =p)

7. Answer to the number thing:

I think it's 1.5 (too tired to actually type up the calculations - srry)

Answer to the truck:

I agree with the anonymous comment before mine, in a way - I think that the truck actually ran out fuel (like, fully), and the bird replaced it ... maybe, i dunno, this one's a guess.

8. Answer to the truck one kinda depends on the weight of the bird but i would say the truck would collapse along with the bridge.

as for the number answer i also agree that the answer is 52... (my calculation method was similar to that of GandalfGecko's...)

9. oh, 52 makes complete sense! I was getting into really complicated multiplication then subtracting all kinds of random answers! My brain turned to mush so I peeked at the comments and realized how off I was!!! :)

The driver in the truck got out when the truck broke down to get help so there was weight room for the bird :D

10. Okay, I agree with Sarah for the truck one, and for the other one, I guess 1.5 or the rounded-off 2 might have been wrong - oops?

11. Can't answer the math one... >_<

But for alexis... I think the truck will collapse in its first move... Cause the truck weight is 14000 lbs + the driver + the bridge is no longer strong enough to hold 14000 lbs (except its new). So i think the truck will fall...

12. 52 is the answer. As several people pointed out, (12*5)-(4*2) = 52.

13. oh..... my bad
