Can You See Me Now?

In which decade were contact lenses first devised?

  1. I am not sure what is meant by 'devised', but I am going to say in the 1950's. The Japanese have always been a creative culture. However, with the onset of the Lasic proceedure, contacts will become 'old hat'.

  2. I know that glass eyes have been used since the late bronze age, not exactly modern day contacts but whatever

  3. I think they have been around since the 20's. Didn't the actors in the Wizard fo Oz have to wear lenses to change their eye color...? So my guess is the 1920's.

  4. The local rag had this as being the 80s... the 1880s. I was hoping one of you would know the truth about this one.

    Pretty interesting to me.
