Ratio of 1:2:3

Using all of the digits from 1 to 9 once each, create three digit numbers that are in a ratio of 1:2:3. There are four solutions, can you find them all?

  1. I thought someone would come up with at least one...

  2. Mike, I think that you were not clear on "create three digit numbers". Probably an example would have been very helpful. It may have been worded better as, "a set of three three-digit numbers".

    Good question.

  3. Ah, that would explain it. Sometimes things are very clear in my head, but aren't as clear when I write them down. Especially when it comes to riddles and puzzles. When you know the answer, the question always seems right.

  5. I had this as a bonus question in my math class, how did you figure it out? I sat there forever figuring out a three digit number that when multiplied by 3, was still a three digit number! If that makes sense! Is there an easier/quicker way?!

  6. I...don't understand how to solve this. How do you solve this?

  7. I'm afraid I can't really tell you how to solve it. I would have tried a hit and miss technique with a little bit of logic. For instance, I'd be pretty sure the first number for the first three digit number would be 1, 2 or 3. That puts a limit on what the other numbers can be.
