### 09 09 09 Twins

Suppose that 3% of all births give rise to twins.  If 1,000 people are born on 09/09/09 in the state of New York, how many do you expect will be twins?

BTW, be careful today searching out numerology trivia.  I did and immediately landed on a malware site.

### The Great and Powerful Sultan

The harem of a great and powerful sultan was protected by a door with many locks.  The sultan had distributed keys to a vizier and four slaves for safe keeping.

The sultan, knowing well how men can be tempted, had distributed the keys so that the vizier could only open the door if he was with one of the slaves, while the slaves could only open the door if three of them worked together.

How many locks were there on the door?

Hint: Although there are many possible answers, I'm looking for the minimum number of locks.

Hint 2: Each person can hold more than one key.

### Hopes and Wishes

Sorry about the lateness of this question. I was a bit distracted this morning.

A doctor knows that the drug he is prescribing is about 30% effective. He currently has four patients on the drug coming in during the next week. He's hoping to hear positive results for three out of the four.

What are the chances that his hopes will be met?

BTW, Did you notice the SocialVibe widget on the sidebar? Please, if you have time, give it a whirl. And then give me some feedback on how it works, what you think of it, etc... Good or bad, I want to know

### Going to the Theatre

Two men and two women went to the movie theater together and they all sat in the same row.  The two men want to be in the middle so that there are two women at either end, but don't want to force anything.  What are the chances that things will work out for them?
