That is an Order

Two soldiers have been ordered to do the following:
  1. Peel potatoes
  2. Do the dishes
  3. Mow the lawn
Neither soldier can go on leave until all three are done, so they are both very motivated to get it done as quickly as possible. Each of these chores, when done by one person, takes one hour. They only have one knife, one lawn mower and one sink with room for only one person. If they start at 8 A.M., how soon can they finish? How are they able to minimize the time spent by both of them?

  1. If they split each job in half, they can be done in an hour and a half.
