Hardly There Today

I'm a word that's hardly there.
Take away my start, and I'm an herbal flair.
What am I?

  1. wallflower? I'm not sure I get it. I was thinking of sparsley. Take away the s and you get parsley.

  2. A wallflower is a person who is hardly there at a party, and if you take away the first syllable, a flower is a plant's flair.

Is "sparsley" really a word? Or were you thinking of "sparsely"?
