Dropping the Steel Ball in Jamaica

In Jamaica, if you drop a steel ball weighing five pounds from a height of 45 inches, will it fall more rapidly through water at 20 degrees Fahrenheit or water at 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Or will it make no difference?

  1. Both temperatures are highly unlikely in Jamaica, but that is actually irrelevant -- water at 20 degrees Fahrenheit is ice.

  2. The temps aren't found in Jamaica!

  3. 20 degrees farenheit is frozen ice -- 32 F is the freezing point. So, 40 degrees

  4. 20 degrees farenheit is obviously wrong because the water would be ice. 40 degree farenheit is correct.

  5. I think the point is that the steel ball would travel faster through warmer (less dense) water than colder (more dense) water

  6. I think the point is this is a joke question designed to fool those who don't think outside the box. Similar to the giraffe in the refrigerator.
