An Eminent King

Five hundred begins it, five hundred ends it,
Five in the middle is seen;
First of all figures, the first of all letters,
Take up their stations between.
Join all together, and then you will bring
Before you the name of an eminent king.

  2. As way of explanation (if it wasn't obvious) - D is the roman numeral for 500, V is the numeral for 5, the first of all numbers (again in roman numerals is I) and the first of all letters (in the roman alphabet) is A. In the order we suggested we get DAVID or DIVAD.
    Long live King DIVAD

  3. I love it when someone comes along and does such a great job of explaining the question and answer. It not only makes my job easier, it also makes it worthwhile.

    Thanks.
