Digging Away
It takes one day for ten workers to dig ten holes.
It takes two days for five workers to dig ten holes.
How much does it take for one man to dig HALF a hole?
A hole is a hole, or, namely, a whole of a hole is a whole. Half of a whole and half of a hole, in our case of digging, are the same. It would thus take one day, as each man digs one hole a day.

You can't dig half a hole.
ReplyDeleteIt would take 1 day. A hole is a hole, no matter how big. BUT if the person were to dig a hole have the typical size, it'd take just half the day.
