A month begins on a Friday and ends on a Friday, too. What month is it?
And if that one was too easy for you, how about this one:
The result of adding the date of the last Monday of last month and the date of the first Thursday of next month is 38. If both dates are within the same year, what is the current month?
The answer to the first part is February (but only in a leap year).
ReplyDeleteThat's right, February of a leap year is the only way to start and end on the same day.
ReplyDeleteAugust is the answer to the second one. In order to add up to 38, it can only be the highest possible number for the last Monday of a month (31) and the highest for the first Thursday of a month (7). Therefore, both last month and the current month must have 31 days. The only two months with 31 days in consecutive months is July and August.
If the last monday is the 31st, the first thursday is just 3 days therefore the 3rd. 31+3=34.
