I'm posting one puzzle, riddle, math, or statistical problem a day. Try to answer each one and post your answers in the comments section. I'll post the answer the next day. Even if you have the same answer as someone else, feel free to put up your answer, too!

Move the Match
In each of the following three, move a single match to form valid equations. The = and + are composed of two matches each.
3. \/| / || = ||| which comes about by taking the horizontal match of the "+" and using it as a slash and the remaining vertical match forming a 2 with the match to its right.
Making a not equal sign works, too.
I'm not sure about the V-|| = ||| I'm just not seeing the one match move?
Leave your answer or, if you want to post a question of your own, send me an e-mail. Look in the about section to find my e-mail address. If it's new, I'll post it soon.

1) IV + I = V
ReplyDelete2) VI +/- I = V (made the + symbol into a + above the - symbol)
3) V - II = III
Or make a != symbol out of the equal symbol.
